Historia/History
El yate Alimaña nació de la sed de aventuras, y el amor por la vela de una familia. Se dedica así a la vela a lo largo de la costa chilena, siempre navegado por la familia y los amigos.
Su dueño y capitán es hoy Francisco Allamand, siendo el tercer dueño de este elegante Swan 431 de S&S, y la tripulación está íntegramente formado por sus hijos, nietos, sobrinos y amigos.
Esperamos navegar todo el tiempo que sea posible y un día de estos buscar nuevos mares!
The Alimaña was born out of the love for the sailing and the adventure of the Allamand family and it's dedicated to the navigation of the Chilean coast. Her owner and captain is Francisco Allamand, by now the third owner of this beatiful S&S's Swan 431, and the whole crew it's formed by his family and friends.
We hope to sail as much as we can, and we just can't wait to find new horizons to persue under any wind and weather conditions!

Nombre/Name
El nombre lo recibe por el nombre de combate que tuviera nuestro padre en la Fuerza Aérea Chilena, ALIMAÑA, donde las primeras dos letras deben coincidir con las primeras dos del apellido. Así, Allamand-Alimaña.
Alimaña significa en castellano bicho raro y de mala calaña, como serpientes y arañas. Nuestro símbolo es la salamandra.
The name came out of the former combat-flight name that our dad had in the Chilean Air Force, where the first two letters have to be the same that the first two of the second name.
Alimaña it's spanish for ugly little animals like spiders and lizards, and it implies a pejorative way to refer to someone. So, our symbol it's a little salamander.

She's based in Club de Yates de Higuerillas, in Con-Cón a small bay just next to Valparaíso in Chile, though we are from Santiago.

La Costa Chilena/The Chilean Coast
La costa chilena se distingue principalmente por lo extensa: más de 756.000 km2 nos rodean de agua.

Fauna: La fauna de nuestra costa es especialemente rica y en ello difiere importantemente de nuestro territorio terrestre, y en general es algo poco sabido por los chilenos.
The animals among the Chilean coast are quite unique and more numerous than the ones in the lands, something that remains ignored for much of our nation.

Lobo de Mar A lo largo de la costa Muy juguetones, alegres y curiosos.
Alcatráz A lo largo de la costa Aparece cerca de las 19.00hrs para seguir las embarcaciones por un rato.
Pingüino de Humboldt A lo largo de la costa A veces forman grupos de 4 o 5 que pasan nadando superficialmente.
Pingüino Magallánico de Chiloé al sur Mucho menos común que el anterior. Este tiene collar negro completo
Jibias 5 millas a la cuadra de Los Vilos Pasan sumergidas unos 4 o 5 metros. Sombras blancas...
Conservación y Ecología/Ecology and Conservation: Chile tiene poca cultura de la ecología y la preocupación del medio ambiente como algo que nos fuera regalado con el compromiso de cuidarlo y protegerlo; eso se nota mucho en nuestros mares, ríos y lagos. A pesar de lo amplia de nuestra costa y de lo marcada que está tanto nuestra historia como nuestro día a día por el agua, gran parte de los desechos sanitarios son arrojados al mar, hay pesca muchas veces descontrolada por los grandes grupos pesqueros, se instalan salmoneras gigantes, y es posible encontrar basura en muchísimos puertos.
Chile it's a nation where ecology and concience for the habitat and wildlife among our country still remains as a minor isue. That it's quite sourprising when we think about how deeply our history and day to day life has depended on our seas, rivers and lakes. Today, many of our sanitaries waste waters are dumped into the ocean, many of the large fishing companies work meetin little control, gigants salmon breeding ponds are installed in inner waters and lakes, and it's still posible to find plastic garbage near most of our ports.

3. NUESTRA FAMILIA/OUR FAMILY
Los Allamand/Les Allamand/The Allamand
Nuestra familia llegó desde distintos poblados del país vasco francés para establecerse en Chile luego de la guerra franco-prusiana. Por mucho tiempo nuestra familia se mantuvo cerrada dentro de la colonia francesa, casándose solo con otras familias francesas, por lo cual se fue creando una identidad marcada por distintas familias francesas, pero que paso a paso se unía más fuertemente a Chile.
Los Allamand son originarios de la tribu bárbara Allamand que poblara la frontera franco-suizo-germana, y que luego fueron dominados por los francos tomando así el nombre como apelativo de señor feudal (d'Allamand).
Hoy la familia es pequeña en todo el mundo, pero aún algunos de nosotros están en Francia, y nuestro apego para con ellos y nuestro suelo natal es tan importante como siempre; pero hemos encontrado en Chile la patria que nos acogió y a la cual servimos con orgullo y amor.
En Chile somos más o menos numerosos y provenimos de nuestros cinco abuelos: Jean, Suzanne, Michel, Raymond y Maite. Nos juntamos cuanto podemos, somos muy unidos, más bien tradicionales, y nos queremos mucho, procurando mantener un fuerte sentido de familia.
Our family came to Chile from several little towns of southern France after the franco-prusian war ended. There, once in Chile, it remainded closed inside the French colony, by getting married only with other French families and that's how we slowly created a mixed up identity...
The Allamand were a barbaric tribe on what it is now the boundaries between France, Switzerland, and Germany which was by then dominated by the Francs... and because of that forced to took the name as an apelative, surviving as they could.
The family is now quite little in the whole world, but some of us are still in France, and we have all kept a great love for our original country. In Chile we are rather bigger and we try to keep our family as united as we can. The family here it's formed by 5 grandfathers: Jean, Suzanne, Michel, Raymond and Mayte. All generations have always grew up in an atmosphere of warm sence of family.
We deeply love one each other and we fondly love Chile.
